$100 is good, that's what I paid for 2TB's just a few months ago!

I hope Seagate puts the pressure on WD to lower prices (specifically their $250 8TB drive) because WD has been expensive as hell the last few years.

My guess is they're about the same. The other difference is Blues only go up to 1TB.

If I recall correctly the Red's FW also has 1 or 2 features for NAS/RAID 'good behavior' that WD doesn't allow in their non-NAS drives. This was the case a few years back, don't know if it is now.

The 2TB is $90 .. fail. I might go grab a 3TB. The Hitachi 2TB drive that I store music on irritates the hell out of me by going to standby mode every 8 seconds and takes forever to spin up. And by forever I mean ~3-4s first world problem.

More or less, longer warranty on the reds, and different firmware, possibly different parts inside for vibration handling, but can't be sure, since I haven't had the chance to open one up...

RPMs aren't the end-all, be-all of drive speed. Backblaze just released their tests, putting 6TB drives into their pods, and writing data into them. The WD 5400rpm drives handily beat the faster-RPM Seagates in speed.

They also had zero initial failures, and zero operational failures in 3 months of testing.
