MBR on maxtor

I'm trying to get rid off a corrupted MBR made by Maxtor's own Maxblast. Nothing seems to work. When I fdisk the drive and want to make new partitions fdisk hangs while doing an integrity check on the HDD. Anybody got advise on how to remove the maxblast software in the MBR?
 
if you boot off a maxblast disk, you can usually get an option to remove it. Also you could do a "fdisk /mbr" to rebuild the mbr before running fdisk normally
