MBR damaged in Win2K

Had a bad memory module and it damaged the boot record. Any way to repair without reformating It is NTFS file system.
There must be a way

If you have single NTFS partition and you damaged ONLY MBR - you'll recover it.
1. Try to boot from win2k boot cd and use repair console. There is an option of restoring MBR.
2. There are a bunch of utilities that will do that (type recover mbr NTFS on google.com). Although none of them are free :-( What I ended up (I have several OS's on my hardrive and strange partitions) is using free utility for Linux that restored them all.

Tried to boot from the CD and it won't boot it comes up with a Stop Error of something like Paged in a Non Page area Microsoft says something about physical and some other memory not matching don't remember what they say Crucial says its the boot record Blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

I found something in an old thread for your Win2k MBR. I dunno if it'll help me on XP, but I'll try it. here is the thread

Basically, it was suggested that you boot with your Win2k CD, select "Recovery Console" and run FIXMBR that might help you.

here is the error I get Microsoft says its memory maybe the other module is bad or the video card. or the CPU according to MS

ive had a similar stop error as well in win2k when i was testing a dodgy mem module. Id say thats gonna be whats wrong IMO.

Yea I am thinking the same or the MB or CPU and to top it off my Plextor smoked pewwwwwwwwwwwww and its out of warranty.
