MBR 2gb limit

I have a 3gb drive. Win8 installed. 2gb limit only.

I have 750gb unallocated. I cannot create another drive out of it. It is just there, unusable.

Advice?

you mean 3tb drive and 2tb limit ? delete or convert the partition to GPT, if its your boot, you need UEFI to boot GPT off the bat.

What system is this, diy or a store bought ?

DIY.

I really don't want to have to clone an image...but it probably is the best idea right now. Ugh.

Ugh, this is a headache.

So like, I'm pretty sure I have a (edit: z68) motherboard, and I just checked the setting and I think UEFI is enabled, even though I don't see a toggle for switching between it.

Is there a software way of getting past this?

I don't even see a GPT option in windows disc management.

OKay, so I fucked up.

I had the idea of cloning the drive to another drive, then booting to the clone, formatting the disk to GPT, clone back.

Tried to clone to a 32gb ssd. but it's 35gb after being reduced.. No clone.

Managed to move my boot to the ssd from the drive.

SO now I can't boot up. It says missing /boot/bcd

error code 0xc0000034

I've downloaded a win8 recovery disk and I've run it. It does not see any windows installations. I ran commandline commands from here but no fix.

help?

Usually a bios limitation. I'm not sure you have gone down that raod, but have you tried dividing the drive in partitons. I'v seen recently a 2 Tb bios limit and also a controller problem. 🙂
