PC sound card.😀 Takes the trophy home.
Here is the thing.
I like MBP onboard audio through headphone 3.5mm port. Sounds awesome when connected to A2 speakers. You know I like the sound stage it provides. The only drawback was the excessive and super annoying POPS and TICKS. I once named the Macbook a PopBook if you remember.😀 PopBook doesn't sound bad, really. :sneaky: POP TICK POP TICK POP POP!! BLING BLING...😀
When I tried my speakers with my 13 year old Creative Labs SoundBlaster Live 5.1 card I heard absolutely no ticks and POPS... zero amount could be heard, simply, they do not exist. Hmm.. so I thought maybe I got lucky??
Well recently I upgraded my SoundBlaster card to an Asus Xonar 7.1 PCI-E card. The sound is impressive. Wow. It has wider sound stage and more crisp. You ask me POPS and TICKS? NONE....... Z-E-R-O.
So this tells me, that PC sound cards are indeed superior to the Macbook onboard audio in this regard.
So I moved my A2 speakers + $1200 silver 3.5mm cable to my HTPC with that new card. Oh, also got myself a $650 musical subwoofer + $200 Sydney 3.5mm-to-RCA cable. The sound is more complete now. All that low end (23hz) to upper bass / mid (270hz) power is taken care of.
Anyways, I just wanted to give you guys and girls heads up to watch out or think twice before you buy MBP for your audio setup.... Nope, don't buy external USB DAC either... they have other USB glitches that cause other sound issues...
Don't get me wrong.... I still love my MBP for what it is... Other than pop and ticks the sound out of headphone port is impressive, way better than onboard audio from PC's.
