MB won't read boot devices

I don't know if this the right forum to ask about this, but it concerns the MB operation so here goes......I'm trying to use Spinrite, which creates a ".iso" file to put on a CD to boot from. I tried booting from the CD but the machine would boot into Windows from the harddrive which was set as the third boot device. So I set all 3 boot devices to CD and even then the machine continued to boot into Windows from the harddrive. I'm stumped. I can't see any other BIOS settings to change and don't know why I can't get a boot from the CD and instead get a boot into Windows even when no boot devices are set to read the harddrive. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

An ISO file is an "image" of something, not the thing itself.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_image (you've heard of Wikipedia?)
As is typical for disc images, in addition to the data files that are contained in the ISO image, it also contains all the filesystem metadata, including boot code, structures, and attributes. All of this information is contained in a single file. These properties make it an attractive alternative to physical media for the distribution of software that requires this additional information.
You can not "Copy" an ISO to CD and have it be bootable. You need an ISO burner to "extract" the information from the ISO, something like Nero or MagicISO to burn the ISO file to a CD. Then it will boot.
