MB Waterblock Screws: Washers?

So I'm finally getting around to putting a waterblock (EK) on my X58 Classified, but I bought the block used and only got screws to attach it. I picked up new thermal pads of the appropriate sizes and the block seems to mount fine. Is it a problem that the screws are used directly on the bottom of the MB without any (non-metal) washers? I don't see them directly in contact with other metal, but I figure I should ask to make sure.

Thanks. I came across that PDF too, along with other people warning about overtightening the screws. I have it mounted fine and everything looks ok, but waiting on a few parts to arrive before I can hook it up. I was debating even posting this question but better safe than sorry.

I recently installed an EK mb block myself. It included screws and PVC washers that went between the screws and mb. fwiw.

If you look at the installation guide for your particular block, it should clarify if they are or are not needed for the install.

So as an update, I set up the CPU loop over the weekend and the temps on the MB are great. Now to continue on to my quest to get my 980x running at 4.5! (original goal of 4.6 seems rough while keeping voltages within spec)
