i dont see anything wrong with this. we have our culture, they have theirs. they do female circumcision and we do things like male circumcision, tattooing, body piercing etc...

With the exception of male circumcision... tattooing and body piercing is done of one's one free will. Although circumcision is mostly a decision made by parents, the procedure when done on newborns is painless and done in sanitary conditions.

How can you see nothing wrong with someone with fulyl developed nerve endings having a piece of their sexual organs lobbed off against their will? Other than the purpose of posting to be a dick... you can't really believe this is a good thing can you?

Female genital mutilation is a horrible thing, I support the womens groups etc. that are doing what they can to help over there

I probably should be more concerned about being labeled some kind of race traitor or something though

Good job quoting an imperialist that had no respect for the indigenous culture of the land he controlled.

My point is that the law cannot reform cultural practices, even non-cultural practices, but the burden that outlawing female circumcision puts on society is something too great for a nation to handle. What are they supposed to do? Remove every female from the care of parents that attempted or are suspected of performing the circumcision? I'm not sure how robust the Egyptian foster care system is, but successful enforcement would surely require one.
