As part of a computer course that I have taken through my employer I will be getting a new computer. We have been given two options as far as computer packages. One consists of a Gigabyte 7zmmh mb with 256 meg of pc133 and an xp1700 proc. The other option uses the Via p4ma mb with 256 meg of 2100 DDR ram and a 1.6 P4 chip. All other components are identical. The p4 system will cost me about $150 extra. I know that both boards have onboard video using the S3 Savage 4 chip and both have onboard sound as well, the Gigabyte using the creative chip and the Via using the AC97. The Via board also has onboard lan. So my question is: is the p4 system with the ddr ram worth the extra money? The system will actually be for my daughter when she goes of to college so it will be used mainly for homework and surfing the web. Any input from anybody using either of these mb's would be great. Thanks in advance.
 
go with the lower price. $150 will get you an extra XP1700 and DDRram!!
