Rear brake pads are already squealing, is this normal for the pads to wear out so fast?

I don't drive the car particularly hard and often engine brake...

I also don't know if this is covered under the warranty but if it isn't I rather not waste half my day at the dealership to find out

Just need to add some lube in between the shim and pad most likely.

Had it happen to me in my Wrx last few days on my front left wheel.

Thankfully to remove the pads takes less than 1 min for me after the wheel is off 🙂

I highly doubt he has a stuck caliper. It's probably just typical squeaking that is not related to the thickness of the pad. I want to say those pads don't even have wear indicators, so there's not going to be any intentional noise to alert you to worn pads. Aside from, you know, grinding.

You'd definitely have to be hard as hell on the car to need rear pads that early. I'm closing in on 30k on my 3 with well over half my pads left on both the front and rear.

I think it's just the cold. I noticed the noise tends to go away after prolonged driving. I don't drive it much in the winter due to the shitty performance of the summer tires (given).

The CRX handles much better in the snow and hasn't given me any issues 😀
