Ok, I have decided to go with a 2007 mazda3 hatchback.

I want the touring (middle class) with leather and a manual. I got a quote for $21,666 OTD (this includes the moonroof package.. Yeah, I know the number is bad luck and it feels very high for me.

What OTD the door price should I aim for? I simply want leather, manual and the extra safety features package (ABS, side airbags, traction control).

What did you pay?

I got a 2006 Mazda3s Grand Touring Hatch with ATX, Moonroof/CD for around $22,000 in December 2005 I think. I don't remember exactly, but it was around that much.

Seems high.

I bought (and have since sold) a 2005 Mazda3 S Sedan with a 5-speed MT, Sport Package, Safety Package, Moonroof/6CD Package, and HID/TPMS Package, and rear lip spoiler for $20,250 OTD

Slightly OT: When is the 3 due to a refresh? I really like the HB, but the ass . . . well, it looks like ass. The sedan's tail is very nice and I'm hoping Mazda can somehow overcome the inherent ugliness of a HB. (e.g. Mazda did a fab job with the 6 hatchback. In fact, the 6 hatchback looks better than the sedan, IMO)

i got a Mazdaspeed 3 for 26 and change, GT with navigation.

for like $1-2k more than you're quote you can get a mazdaspeed 3 sport :) i think endmunds has a chart that shows what others have paid in your area. its relatively accurate...

also goto www.mazda3forums.com

I wouldn't mind a mazdaspeed3 but I decided to keep my OTD budget under 20k and I don't need all that performance or extra options. I just like leather and manual.

It seems I am not getting any good quotes around south florida. The dealers here don't feel they need to make a good price for you since the cars move on their own.

I really don't mean to thread crap here, but if dealers in your area aren't having problems selling the vehicle you're interested in at their price, then they wont want to give away one to you.

Cars sell for market value, not based on what any one person may think it's worth.

Just my opinion. Good luck, it's a great car, I hear.

I understand that. But I know for a fact they can budge on the price. The stories I have heard from other buyers are my source. None of them got their cars from the dealers near me, though. I would be happy saving a couple hundred dollars at this point. I just don't want to spend $500 over invoice + advertising fees + TTT.

I got mine at Tyrone Square Mazda in St. Petersburg, FL

I kept negotiating down, then when the salesmen thought we had a deal, i threw a $1000 coupon we had got in the mail on the desk and said, you apply that to the #'s we just came to, i write you a check right now and its a done deal, you say no, i walk. They took the coupon :)

The rear end of the car is exactly why I opted for the Mazda6, that an the interior. Besides, I got an 07 6 for 20.5K. I got the Value Edition, v6, 5spMT, leather steering wheel/shiftknob, 6 disc changer, 17 inch rims. I love it. It had a paint issue so it was in the shop for a week or so and the rental I got was an 05 Mazda3.

Mazda is really coming around lately!
