Mazda3 -> Good replacement tires?

JEDI

Lifer
I have the 16" Toyo Proxies.

My tires are fine, but this tire THREAD got me thinking about what are good replacement tires for my car.

I've heard good things about:
BF Goodrich Traction T/A

But they're $105 each at Walmart.

Any better bang for the buck tire for a Mazda3 w/16" wheels ( p205/55 r16)?

I was about to jump with glee when I read this thread title...only to find out that you have the 16 inchers...

BOOOO, HISSSSSSSS!!!! 😛

NFS, well they "could" have been replaced around 30k, i just waited till 40k 🙂 When i hydroplaned three times in one 150 mile trip, i decided it was time 🙂

These new ones are insane, its like driving on rails, even in the rain. I've tried (within reason), i can't get them to slip.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna replace these at 25 - 30k.

we put the traction t/a's on my sister's 02 sentra, great tires...

...on the other hand i put the bfgoodrich touring t/a's on my 99 civic -- these tires suck ASS.

After putting 40k miles on my 2005 Mazda3 in a year, i went out and got the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 from Tirerack...

AMAZING TIRE. Driving in the rain acts like driving when its bone dry, also, noticbly quieter than the stockers...

215/45WR17 On closeout for $88 🙂
That fits the 17 inch rim (speedo will be a tad off)

I "may" be mistaken, but i think those are the ones made in china with a lower speed rating than some of the other ones...

Yeah, but that's a summer tire. I know that I'll be looking for all season tires once my time comes 😀

Yeah, as long as it has good wet traction, it's an all season tire here in CA 😀

I have Traction T/As on my Grand Am and they are great. I've had them for almost 3 years already. And I'm in WI so traction in the winter is always a good thing.
