Tokyo, Japan ? Mazda will showcase its world premiere of the SENKU concept vehicle at the 39th Tokyo Motor Show, which begins October 19. The SENKU, a four-seater rotary sports car, features an ultra-long wheelbase, minimal overhang, large tires, and electric sliding doors. Its direct-injection gasoline rotary engine with hybrid unit is located between the front and rear axles for a 50:50 front/rear weight distribution and low centre of gravity. The name "Senku" is Japanese for "pioneer", which Mazda says depicts its spirit of pursuing unique and exciting ventures.
