Based on the rules, I'm not sure "tear up" is the right description, but it still sounds like it could be fun.
 
If the cars are stick this could be pretty damn hot. $40 for a 2-day driving school.
 
NOooooooooooo! I really want to get this car at the end of the summer, and would love to participate in this event, but they're not hitting Detroit! bah. :|
 

If there's news in a couple weeks, about a car that rolls over and explodes at a mazda event, that's probably me.

 
Wow sounds pretty decent for $40. Tempted to bug a few friends to sign up and hit up the San Francisco one, though it happens to be in Alameda, not SF.

Sounds like they'll be automatics unfortunately - from the FAQ:

Will everyone be driving the same kind of car?
You bet. Everyone gets to compete in an all-new MAZDA6 sports sedan. All cars will be equipped with automatic transmissions, by the way, so you can concentrate on what you learned in the Skill Clinics and not worry about pesky distractions like gear changes.

they could atleast throw in a manual...
