Mazda Miata with Corvette engine and Camaro transmission.

98 vette engine with moded oil pan with a 2004 ls6 block
ported stock 98 heads with comp 918 springs and ti-retainers
7.4" harden push rods with Harlansharp 1.7 rockers
Moded valve covers to accept the rockers
Ported stock throttle body
gapless piston rings and ported oil pump
Double roller T-chain and Arp rod bolts
tr224/224 cam on a 114
99 camaro Pcm with custom wire harness
A racing miata radiator 2 1/16" thick aluminum
a new 2002 camaro T-56 trans with Zo6 clucth assy.
A 11lb fly wheel with a f-body aluminum drive shaft which is 28 1/2" long
a ford t-bird posi rear 3.27:1
15 pound rims that are 16X7's 225/40r16's front 245/45r16's rear Tires
Race beat race springs front and rear with Agx shocks
Custom sub frame...trans cross member and moded Powerplant frame.
And lots of other little things....which add up

Neat. I've seen a couple Miatas up here that had 302 (5.0L) Mustang motors in them...they were pretty crazy.

Well - according to this link, the weight difference between the engines is less than 100lbs. I woudn't say that'd totally ruin the handling.
