Mazda CX-7 Direct Injection????????

I was a big advocate of Direct Injection when personal watercraft went to it a few years ago, before jump into mostly 4-stroke.


I was curious if anybody knew more about brand/type of Direct Injection on this Mazda CX-7. It's the first that I've heard of Direct Injection on a broadly sold unit here in the states.

I know that Orbital and Ficht are 2 popular DI technology mfgrs, but perhaps Mazda's using somebody else or a different system??

vw's new line up also uses direct injection. i believe most newer engines are using it now.

The Mazdaspeed6 also uses it, as will the Mazdaspeed3, so see if you can find info on them.

Direct injection is common in diesels, but had a problem for a while with gas engines because the systems ran lean to save on fuel in other countries which in turn caused them not to pass the NOx emmissions testing in the US.

It sounds like the OP is looking for specific info on the DIJ system in the Mazda's, not generic DIJ info.
