I am looking to buy a Mazda 5 and was wondering if I should buy new or used. Most late year used ones seem to be prior rentals. Would someone do a cost analysis for me and tell me which I would do better getting? I have15k in cash for a used model, but there is 0% interest if I decide to buy new. Zip code is 77007 which is Houston, TX. I do not know what route I should take. Would I do better waiting a bit more? This is also an option.

Not sure about cost of new vs used but if you qualify for 0% and have 15K in cash that's pretty damn close to being the deal breaker for me. If you area tends to have lots of inventory for 2009-2010 Mazda5, you'll get a nice deal because the 2012 Mazda5 redesign is coming in Jan/Feb. They skipped 2011 Mazda5.

Truecar.com shows that new 2010 Mazda5's are going for 15698 in my area (upstate NY).

Truecar prices should be taken with a grain of salt since they don't take into account all of the dealer incentives and holdbacks granted by the manufacturer. It's entirely possible that you could negotiate them down below that price. Check the Edmunds forums to find out the lowest price anyone else in the country paid for it and start from there. Do you need automatic transmission or any other options?

Edit: with auto the lowest price reported by truecar is $16,796. Again, this price is inflated so you can negotiate the final price to be less than this if you can still find them in stock. http://www.truecar.com/Mazda/MAZDA5/2010/best-price-report-3C605E9F.html?zipcode=12201

If you have $15,000 in cash then there isn't a doubt in my mind I'd go new and finance a couple grand at 0% for a year or two. You'd have a monthly payment of like $75. The piece of mind and warranty is easily worth that.

I like cars.overstock.com better than TrueCar because it shows the price you can actually get.

For my zip it shows starting price of $15,501 - usually that doesn't include destination charge so add another $750 or so.
