I've had my 07 GT Hatch for just under a month now, and I love my car. Bought it with 16 miles on it, now it has just over 1,100.

Elaborate on the amazingness.

drive one. heh. but that's my main point, it's a blast to drive and autocross. It'd be nice if it were RWD... but you can't have everything.

Then you'd get worse gas mileage in the auto.
What's your point?

Wel, I really meant that to be two seperate complaints. The first point was that a manual in a very hill city is a tad annoying. The manual on the hill isn't too difficult now after I've adjusted to it, just a bit annoying especially cause I live on a ~12% grade. When I moved here had to master the hand brake down/clutch out/gas in timing concept.

The second thing is that the gas milage in the city of the car is just bad. But make the blocks really small, add in some hills, and it's not uncommon to get 16mpg if I go across the city (SOMA to Marina)

Sound like you need a YARIS. 😛

I love my '06 GT except the damn rattles from the glove compartment. I understand that I could fix it by taking it apart and adding some foam, but come on Mazda!

Hopefull they fixed it in '07.

No more mazdas for me.

Yea, I think my 3 will be my last Mazda too. I owned a Protege5 too before this one and the fit and finish was better. Rattles FTL.

16 mpg? If you're not modded, I'd get that checked. 16 is way too low even for hilly areas.

Well, I get 30 mpg highway. That seems normal. I just chalked it up to SF hills sucking.

I get 30mpg as well. It got better after a year of driving.
It's a fun car, though it could use some better stock engine mounts, MP3 playback, a synchronizer on reverse, and stability control. I had a scary, but very fun episode on wet highway 17 today when I went into a corner too hard. The car handled it magnificently, very nice progressive sideways slip, but definitely would be nice to have stability control to avoid it entirely on that highway 🙂

I use to get around 26-27 MPG with my Atlanta highway commute in traffice. If I got it on the highway at a constant speed, I could get 32-34 MPG. I don't think I ever got lower than 24-25 MPG.
