I'm getting a used Mazda 3, 2005 for about $5500. It's got 100,500km on everything in the car is in good working order. The tires might need to be changed because they're worn out. Other than that, it looks pretty good. Is this a good deal? Would really appreciate some feedback on this! Thanks.

Update: Sealed the deal. Just came back from the mechanic and he said it's completely fine. The only issues are the rear shock absorbers which might need to be replaced but not right away. All four tires also need to be replaced since they are pretty worn out. Other than that, absolutely no problems.

Personally, I'm satisfied and don't think that I got duped. What do you guys think?

Is it the I, S, or SP?

Options, condition, etc...?

But price seems good if it has been taken care of for the average 3 of that year.

Car Fax yet?

Thanks for the replies guys. I think it's the I model and seemed ok when I drove it. I'm taking it to the mechanic right now. Will update when I get back.

'05 Mazda3 w/~63k miles? That's super cheap, I think even a base '05 Mazda3i should be closer to $8k private party, unless there's something wrong (flood / salvage / theft recovery / etc)

Did the mechanic even look at the engine? I mean, that car only has around 63K on it....that price is pretty low. Was they guy trying to pay loan sharks or something?

Also, where do you live...if the OD is in km, it's not the us.

If you saw this on Craiglist, it's a scam.

😕

There are tons of late-model Japanese cars "for sale" on craigslist for $3000-$5000 that are lures for scammers trying to pull variations of the Nigerian on buyers. "Scam" was my thought, as well.

If the OP is from Canada, those dollars are Canadian dollars, making the car super cheap. If it was a legit car, he got a crazy deal because the car was worth thousands more.

Probably been totaled and repaired. That is way too cheap.

A family member has been looking for that exact car for the past week or so. Haven't found one under $10k that wasn't involved in a collision and repaired, even in the 60k miles range.

One was so bad you could see a crease in the back of the strut tower from the edge of the mount from the strut being folded back. Car was $9k and looked fine to a casual observer.
