Mayweather vs. Cotto ticket prices

prism

Senior member
I've never been to a boxing match before, and was hoping to buy tickets for my Dad and I since it's his 60th birthday this year....that is, until I found out how much tickets cost....

Going through www.mgm-grand.arena-tickets.org, the cheapest tickets are $738, and they go all the way up to the soul-crushing price of $26,045. I had no idea tickets for ANYTHING could cost that much. For only 8 times as much as the most expensive ticket for that match, you can buy a ticket that takes you into OUTER SPACE!

That is all.

IMHO, not one person should buy tickets or PPV for a Mayweather fight. Boxing in general is just shit compared to what it use to be. But this guy deserves nothing.

He deserves every penny, if he didn't he wouldn't be able to make the $$$ demands he does. He's currently the biggest draw in boxing, considered a top 20 all time boxer. And has arguably the greatest defensive boxing ever seen. He would be fighting Manny, but Bob Arum doesn't want Pacman to get put to shame. Especially after his 2nd BS win over JMM a few months ago. If if I could afford a ticket I'd love to go watch one of the greatest boxers of all time do his thing live. On top of that he's one of the rare boxers where people who hate him will time and time again buy his PPV's in hopes of seeing him suffer his 1st loss (will never happen either lol) My neighbor's a boxing fan who hates him, and has bought like his last 10 PPV's to see him lose. He never learns I guess 😀

Boxing doesn't get a dime from me, I go watch them for free. Once and a while I pay for a UFC event, but even then its only 5 bucks.

No to which part? Cotto has no chance at all here, yet my neighbor said he's going to pay $70 for the 1080p version of the PPV, so as he tells it can "watch Floyd get his ass handed to him in HD" he's obviously blinded by his hate. Regardless of how you feel about Mayweather, he's unbeaten and has the ability to make great boxers look like total amateurs. He earns every penny by putting asses in the seats every time he fights. He offered a fight to Pacman but Arum and Pac's people too had nothing but excuses.

Well somewhere there must be some people paying for it, I mean Mayweather getting around 35 MILLION for this fight right? And that's just for the "fight" all the perks and shit will probably add up to another 5-10 million. I'll be ordering the SD PPV, but only because I don't have an HD TV.

Bottom line Floyd offered to give Pac MORE money than he's ever made in any other of his fights, and Manny turned it down saying $40 MILLION wasn't enough and he wanted a cut of the PPV too. What a retard. Meanwhile he'll get around $10 million for his next fight against some unknown. I guess fighting $10 instead of $40 mill's okay if it's against a guy you know you can beat. Cotto took Mayweather up on an offer that will end up being much less than the $40,000,000 he offered Pacman. And the funny thing is, the amount Cotto will be getting is still going to be more than Manny gets for his next fight. Ironic how he didn't want to fight because the money was too low, but he'll NEVER have a chance at a payday that big again.

In addition to being a ridiculously talented fighter Mayweather is one of the greatest celebrity trolls I've ever seen. He says and does controversial things to make his events a greater draw and it works.

Manny should get more for the Mayweather fight IMHO.

Why? Floyd does better PPV numbers, not my opinion but a fact. Why should the lesser draw get more money? He doesn't even deserve $40 million imho. Hell in the epic 3rd fight against JMM Pac didn't even draw all that much more than Floyd did again Ortiz. And Ortiz is a fairly unknown boxer. $40,000,000 is more than he deserves, on his own he can't make anywhere close to that. Mayweather will still be getting a lot of money without Pacman, Manny can't say the same. The fact is he didn't turn down the fight because the money wasn't right, he doesn't want to fight Floyd, I don't care what he says in interviews. You can't say 1 minute "oh I want to fight Floyd, but $40 million isn't enough" and 2 minutes later turn around and say "hay my next fight is coming up, and I'm getting $8 million for it!" The outcome here will be the same amount of $$$ for Floyd as if he was fighting Pac, but he'll have a much easier fight on his hand. Seems like a win win for him *shrug*

Hell in the epic 3rd fight against JMM Pac could barely draw more than Floyd did again Ortiz, who's a fairly unknown boxer. $40,000,000 is more than he deserves, on his own he can't make anywhere close to that. Because with Manny and Floyd fighting its a bigger draw overall. Floyd isn't going to bring in 100 mill+ fight against anyone else.

He'll draw less, but since he'll only have to pay Cotto a fraction of what he was going to pay Manny. I'd bet he'll actually come out of this making more money. He's all about the $$$ in the end. And this was a business move for him. He offered Pacman more money than he'll make in his next 4 fights combine, and the dude walked away. And how he's only going to have to give up $8 million tops to Cotto.

LOL boxing. Such a retarded sport. I mean, there's a lot of retarded sports out there, but I think boxing takes the cake.

What do you mean he will draw less? I mean more people want to see Manny and Floyd fight then anyone else on the planet. This will bring in the 100+ mill, some have even said 160 mill. Manny is part of that draw, so he deserves more I still feel. I am not talking about how much Floyd would make, just how much the super fight of the century would bring in.

Yup, and it's to watch a racist wife beater fight someone 10X slower than him, just like all of his fights, totally rigged to rob people of their money. I'd rather watch an undefeated fighter like Calzaghe come out of retirement before watching Gayweather.

This.

If damn Mayweather wasn't such a racist against Asians maybe he'd fucking fight the fight we all have been wanting against Paq.

Boxing hasn't been interesting in at least a decade. Every single fight is some primadonna fighting someone clearly below his level because he's scared of spoiling his perfect record. You get guys with absurd lines of "67 wins, no losses" because they will only fight people they KNOW they can beat... And I'm supposed to pay money for this? Fuck that, I can see a better fight at any local middle school during recess. Boxing is a sad fucking joke these days, an unwatchable mess that's better for curing insomnia than getting amped up.

LOL

He may not be a redeemable person outside of the ring, but INSIDE the ring, there is no denying he is among the greatest ever. Period.

I agree with QUEBERT on this:

Manny is a bitch, Arum is a pansy - and Mayweather will wipe the mat with the PacMan if they ever fight.

Arum knows the Mayweather fight will end Pac's career and the money making days of old are over.

Glad to see the Asians in this thread showing there true colors, you may not like Mayweather as a person but as a boxer he is clearly superior in most every way. Recognize his true skill.

And what he said about Lin is 100% true - no black player in the NBA would cause the insanity that Lin has created, its a great story, the press is milking every moment of it. Congrats to Lin but the hype is way overblown.

UFC president Dana White called WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. a racist Tuesday night for comments the boxer made recently about New York Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin.

"First of all, what [Mayweather] said, I think, is racist. He's made a couple of racist comments. And yes, Floyd, you're racist with the stuff that you've said," White said.

"First of all, Jeremy Lin gets all this credit because he's an Asian player in the NBA that African-Americans never get? Yeah, he's getting all this praise because he is an Asian guy playing in the NBA.

White continued: "And you say African-Americans don't get it? Really? Kobe Bryant doesn't get any praise? Michael Jordan never got any praise? The list goes on and on of guys who completely get praised for being great NBA basketball players. Not only can [Lin] compete and make it in the NBA, the guy is tearing it up and is breaking records, you knucklehead."

lmao, I agree with Dana.
