Maytag Atlantis Washer $360 +tax at Home Depot, YMMV

My washer gave it up this week, so I needed to buy a new one. I had seen the Maytag Atlantis washer, MAV6200, advertised in this weeks Best Buy ad for $466. I saw the same model at Home Depot for $500+ plus a sign saying they would beat any advertised prices by 10% on in stock items, so I went to HD to see if I could swing the deal. I went to a different HD than I had been at previously, and when I found the washer, it was marked at $399! Then, they accepted my 10% off coupon to bring the price to $360 + tax.

The price was a special buy price and I think those vary by location, so YMMV. Check obese billfold for coupons, and there is an exclusion listed for "selected Maytag products" although Atlantis is not specifically listed, so again, YMMV. This HD was in Commerce, MI at 14 mile and Haggerty. $466 was the cheapest I've seen this washer advertised for so far, so $360 seems pretty good.

We moved into a new (to us) house a week ago and Lowe's was all out of the Maytag Atlantis washer & dryer we were wanting.
We've been having to take trips to the old house every weekend to use the mismatched, 25yr old washer & dryer set we left there.
I hope I can score this deal!

Very good deal. I purchased an Atlantis about 1.5 years ago for about $400 (after rebate) from Home Depot. I had HD match the price from Lowe's which was a little less - and that made the deal go down to $400. We only had one problem with ours. The water pump started to sound like there were rocks rolling around in it after we had it for about 6 months. Getting the warrany service was not an issue at all. Plus, you've got to love that oversized tub. I replaced a GE with this Maytag and when I was removing the GE, I noticed that they used a cement block as a counter-weight to offset the motor. You would think that they could have come up with a better design than this. Needless to say, I has very happy to put the Maytag in the place of that older GE.

The Atlantis series of washers is Maytag's mid-range line. Here's a link to their site:

The Atlantis washers feature large wash tubs, large lids, etc. Very well constructed.

The more I thought about this deal, I realized how hot the deal was. Since I already have a Maytag Atlantis, I don't need the one offered here. I mentioned before that I purchased mine about 2 years ago for $400 - and my research at the time proved that I received the best price possible. However, today, I verified that I had purchased the MAV5000 model (predecessor to the MAV5200) - which is a model below the one available for $360 + tax. Given that the Best Buy price may have expired when the sales circular expired on Saturday evening, this deal may no longer be available. But, for those who got in on the deal, this was an awesome deal! Also, the Atlantis models feature plastic tubs with lifetime warranties. Some of the Atlantis models offer stainless steel tubs, but be prepared to pay quite a bit more for that model.
