A holiday tree is a symbol of the season, not something that belongs to a single religion despite the claims that it is. The original Tannenbaum was meant to bring a community together and out of their houses for a day during a cold winter when the concept was originally created back in Germany. Shortly after it was attached to Christmas and embraced as a religious tradition by many Christians around the world. But really it meant to make people happier during typically a dreary time of year by having communities create a Yule time community decoration.

As such as I have no problem with Yule trees around the winter solstice and celebrations there in. I'm an atheist and see no problems with winter festivities and decorations that do not include direct religious intonations or connotations by a government agency.

I'm an atheist, I'm against state run religious displays. A xmas tree is a freaking tree. It is unrelated to the Christian belief of the birth of a boy in Nazareth. I personally celebrate the late-Decemeber gift-giving secular holiday, with some tree on the side.

I celebrate the same, oh, and Festivus of course.
