Lightfoot, the first Black woman and first openly gay person to lead the city, won her first term in 2019 after promising to end decades of corruption and backroom dealing at City Hall. But opponents blamed Lightfoot for an increase in crime that occured in cities across the U.S. during the pandemic and criticized her as being a divisive, overly contentious leader.

She is the first elected Chicago mayor to lose a reelection bid since 1983, when Jane Byrne, the city’s first female mayor, lost her Democratic primary.

Looks like Chicago finally had enough of her erratic leadership.

Never liked her and she appears to do more harm than good.
What she should do is insist she didn’t lose, refuse to leave office until numerous investigations are done as to where her vote count went, file many lawsuits disputing the count then wander off insisting she won and never admit defeat.

Yeah, but she tried though. It's the effort not the outcome that counts with Democrats.

There's an unspoken reason this even rises to the level of needing a thread, and it's not really a good look. Just FYI.

It took five posts to turn this into an "I hate republican's thread", and fourteen to make it about racism. You fellows are slipping.
You can't deny Republicans don't have a boogeyman hate list. Most of the members on that list are there because of who they are not their actions or political beliefs.

I think this thread would have more serious responses if someone else had started it, but the OP has a certain notoriety here and the responses we are seeing are commensurate with the way he posts and engages with people here.

Furthermore I doubt the OP lives in Chicago or has anything more than a cursory understanding of the mayor and her policies. The thread is not genuine. It is simply an opportunity to dance on the grave of a politician he does not like.

There's a reason no one in here knows who the mayor of Houston is ...

(outside of Houston residents that is)

Did the mayor commit crimes? Or was corrupt in some way? No? Then what do you think the OP’s intentions were with this thread? You think he was calling attention to how hard it is to fight corruption?

It’s funny how blind you are to the rights bs but can immediately pick up on the lefts bs. You think that’s because you are an “independent” thinker? Lol

Wait, you are saying a political leader is beyond criticism? Voters only gave her 16% of the vote and she is the first Chicago mayor in 40 years not to be reelected.

The people have spoken!

Dem's well meaning progressive reforms have come back to bite them in the ass.

Wonder if New York is next.
No Bail reform has led to a rise in petty crime/mass shop lifting there.
