It seems that his motivation is based on the reality that many of these illegal immigrants are more integrated/assimilated into American society than many citizens with generations of roots here.

So what? It doesn't matter, they are illegal so they have no right to vote, at all, period. No way, no how.

He should be given a swift kick in the nads and booted from office for supporting such lawlessness.

Infiltrate and dominate is an age old tactical strategy and working like a champ.

This is 100% the Republicans fault.

They created this situation for "cheap" labor.

You reap what you sow.

While I think you are a nincompoop of the nth degree, I hold out hope that one day, hopefully not too far in the future, you wake up and start using those braincells of yours.

Oh shit I missed that part in the Constitution.

Maybe the Constitution should be amended. We already have a lot of people who want to amend the Constitution to prevent birthright citizenship. I would argue that amending the Constitution to remove citizenship to the so called non-assimilated Americans in exchange for the assimilated illegal immigrants would probably result in a more productive society.

He's not supporting lawlessness. He's advocating a change.

Allowing illegals to vote IS lawlessness. Supporting a change to allow them is supporting lawlessness since the Constitution does not allow for such.

Who in their right mind wants citizens of other nations to vote for stuff in another nation? Really? He's loony for even suggesting such a thing.

Like I said, he may believe that these immigrants are more American (in an assimilated/integrated sense) than Americans who are born here.

So what? It doesn't make it true or right.

Citizens of this country vote in this country for this country. THAT IS ALL. NO ONE ELSE. If anyone wants to change that they need their head examined.

It's not a matter of true or right. He's advocating a change. Until the change is enacted, he's not doing anything.

I don't think that people who think that way should have their head examined. It sounds like a novel approach to government.

So what is that COW/Rabid is just trying to exorcise his own personal psychoses about being a first or second generation immigrant... That and he's a filth troll.

Seems to me that people here mad at the proposal are exorcising their personal psychoses about being unassimilated and left behind in this country. They're not used to be the outsiders; now they are.

So much of this started with Obama. Truly a revolutionary moment in the social structure of the United States. A scant amount of power is shifting to minorities and others who have been oppressed or treated unfairly by those that now feel threatened by role reversals. Get used to it. Hire a psychologist. Obama and those he inspired aren't going anywhere soon. The fortress of the white male is being dismantled in favor of egalitarianism.

I think that it's fine if the illegal immigrants can't vote in this election. However, since many de-assimilated Americans have become so de-assimilated that they want to amend the Constitution to remove birthright citizenship, I think that it may be a good idea to create a movement to amend the Constitution to remove citizenship from current de-assimilated citizens and to bestow citizenship to currently illegal immigrants who have become assimilated into American society. It would probably make the US a better country, too.

So, ultimately, I think that this mayor may be on a right path, these illegal immigrants should be able to vote, just not right now.

Anyone who protests against what the good mayor wants is racist.

This includes legal immigrants of other countries (permanent residents included) who can't vote.

It's racist. racist, i say.

It's not necessarily a matter of racism, but that can be a motivation for some.
