why don't you take your own advice and kiss my...err I mean lay off pal, she is trying to do a service to the community here by reporting issues with the forums that she see's as this is forum issues, she is well within her rights. although it is a purchesing decision question on how to bypass somthing that disk creators themselves are doing illegaly with current copyright laws in the us we are entitled to create 1 backup copy for archival purposes.
Well since I am posting in that thread let me tell you MOM,my kids get a bunch of games and I pay for them. Now since it costs me around $45 per game and usually 3 ot 4 games per month I want to make backups of these games,my kids are hard on disks leaving htem on the floor stepping on them and on and on.I am not buying a game twice so it is alot cheaper to make copies of them.
Hmmm... If you read that thread, there is nobody asking that directly. I don't know what everyone's intentions are, but nonetheless everything in that thread can be applied to common and legal situations.
Ironically, while getting warez off the net is easy if you're into that, backing up your own legitimate game software can be quite hard. For the very first time, with my new CD-RW, I backed up my legit copy of the copy-protected Unreal Tournament. If you're going to spend $$$ on a CD-RW, you may as well buy one that can backup your software. This is especially important with games since you need the actual disc in the drive to play the game, and thus run a higher risk of damaging the disc.
Indeed, it is foolish not to backup your software (and all other files too).
if they were installing a cracked copy of XP they would have to burn it from their HD to a CD, the guy that started that thread said that he is COPYING a cd...
Until we can be certain that this type of information will never be used for pirating software, these threads will be locked. Since that will never happen, they will never be allowed. This is not new, so nobody should be surprised.
