There are people who murder and they dont even get executed, yet Jonathan Pollard has been in jail even though he didnt hurt anyone.

Anyone else here have hope that he will be freed?

So you're logic is, since some murderers are not given the death penalty, anyone who committed crimes that didn't involve direct killing should never be punished by jail?

Israel just reneged on their promised prisoner release.

Sorry this SOB traitor will have to stay in prison a while longer.

He gave classified info to a foreign power. He can continue to rot in jail.

In direct response to the OP's question:

Hell NO.

no. my logic is that Our Enemy the State shouldnt have secrets. We're not allowed to have secrets, so why should the State be allowed to?
Jonathan Pollard didnt hurt a damn soul.

As an Israeli citizen, i'll just say this. may he die in jail. I also wish that every single person who was responsible on our side was equally prosecuted and extradited.

My government is stupid and the prisoner exchange has nothing to do with it.

he committed and a crime and betrayed his country (he is an american citizen, not an israeli citizen!, just jewish). he deserves life in prison.

i also wish my stupid government would learn some manners and stop pressing this issue, and understand that it wasn't a trivial matter for the USA to "forgive".
even if it so long ago, and so much cooperation and obvious bilateral spying has been going on since then.

I can't wait for Snowden to join him in serving a life sentence.
(although I'd prefer that Snowden just be executed for his treason)

You should have called it quits after that first post.

So, If we are planning an attack or a troop movement during a war, you don't think it is wise the state keep it a secret? I don't want a reply. Just pointing out the weakness in your argument.

Ever heard of the 5th amendment?

If you want to argue that treason should not be a crime, then just make that argument. When you make the argument that treason should not be a crime based on the observation that some murderers don't get the death penalty, you come across as a fool.

A spy is a spy.

Instead of life in prison he should have been sentenced to death and hung from the nearest oak tree.
