If we only had some kind of "Hot Deals" place to post this...

:p

(oh, and BTW, isn't that severely over-priced?)

What a bargain. Would go well with the $1250 GTX 1050 ti 4GB card I saw on Newegg from a 3rd-party seller a few days back. :p
I could understand if a 3rd party seller was price gouging (it's what most of them do anyways), but I don't think I've ever seen Amazon price gouge at this level before. I mean they have an entry-level CPU priced higher than all of their mainstream CPUs outside the 3950x AND 5950X.

I grabbed a Ryzen 7 3800XT last week for $299 @Microcenter
Is the i7-9700K a better processor? It was $199 @ Microcenter. Curious about your higher price if the Intel is better.

People try to sell things for more than they're worth. News at 11.

The worst I see are stupid people on Facebook that say they bought something (say an exercise machine) and they haven't used it and it's only 1 month old or whatever.

They then try to justify their selling price of 1300 by showing it new for 1500.

Should be plenty of comparisons. Try searching Ryzen 7 3800XT vs i7-9700K. People love posting benchmarks

If it were some 3rd party seller or some no-name company that nobody has seen before, I'd agree.

But when it's a retailer like Amazon, selling a CPU with a MSRP of $249 for $599, I think they deserve a "WTF are they thinking" comment about the extreme price gouging.

Usually, such pricing is for the collector who must have said item but it is well past end of life and thus not many units are left.

Eventually, the item will not longer be in stock at all.

There's always someone...some way...somehow.

I paid $189 for a 3600 in September. (not XT because overclocking isn't required for my uses)

I'd like to get a 5000 series when the prices drop, but once again....not sure if I need that kind of power yet. Flight Simulator 2020 hiccups every now and again, but haven't had enough issues to make me think the workhorse I have isn't enough. Certainly not a $500+ processor though. I would have bought Intel if the price point was that high.

Isn't the new MS Flight Sim more GPU-limited than CPU-limited?

Both are important for this game.

We're used to seeing the GPU become the main bottleneck at higher graphics settings, but even a Core i9-9900K couldn't quite keep up with the fastest Nvidia GPUs right now at 1080p and 1440p. If you have anything less than a Core i9-9900K, you won't even benefit from a GPU faster than the RTX 2070 unless your resolution is at least 1440p.

I paid a bit less due to some very lucky timing plus a promo for mine ($159) in July but in the same spot.

I would love a 5600/5800 myself and Gigabyte already released a compatible BIOS for my B450 MB too but considering how much faster the new rig is then my old FX-8350 system it's hard to justify.

And compared to Zen 2 Intel is consistently a bit faster in gaming and trades blows in benchmarks otherwise.

Zen 3 OTOH is faster than anything Intel's got pretty much across the board in desktops.

Thanks, my last desktop build was a single core Athlon XP from 2003. If I ever assemble a new gaming PC, I'll be sure to wait long enough so that mid-range can comfortably run Flight Sim. :tearsofjoy: Without knowing what GPU Scarpozzi is rocking, I probably shouldn't guess what the bottleneck is!
I went with the 2019 Gigabyte GTX 1660 Super @ $230. It does great for high/ultra @ 1080p. The next better options at the the time didn't seem to be worth the extra money with prices about to drop from the 3000 series coming out.

Best buy is supposed to have some 3060s tomorrow for $399 I think.

I may wait until the end of next year and upgrade.
