Maybe I should attach a small yet powerful magnet to the front of my wife's car

My wife just called to let me know that a screw got lodged in one of the front tires on her car. The same front tires that I just bought on Saturday. <facepalm> Earlier this year, a nail got lodged in her rear tire.

I don't know what it is about her, her care and road debris but yeesh. A magnet that would act like a cow catcher for metallic objects for cars sounds like a good idea right about now though.

I had a screw in my front drivers side tire for 10 months or so. I just replaced the tire about 2 weeks ago.

You say that, but then when you get a Smart car stuck in the magnet you will change your tune.

Yeah, she could hear air rushing out of the tire though so it needs to be replaced. The good news is that Kauffman Tire is just going to charge us labor to put on a new tire if they can't patch this one.

Well played sir. Well played. I tip my hat to you.

Unlucky to have that happen again but lucky it happened so recently. Now you only need to buy one tire to match the other, since they have no wear.

i got a screw in a tire the DAY after i had them mounted. Luckily, it went into the tread and just barely wasn't long enough to puncture the tire. They were sizable SUV tires.

I have had Pirelli's, which get flat when you pass an nail laying on the highway. I have had an aluminum Zeus clip in it. But my regular tire store has a pliers, shears, screwdrivers, and other things that you look at and just go 'wow'.

Flying Car does not fix, they just change the name to FOD (Foreign Object Damage). Also, you get News Helicopters stuck in your wheels. ;)

One of the bad things about living around a lot of new home construction is constantly running over nails, screws, and random bits of metal.

I love my Dunlop tires. They are the absolute best tires I have ever owned and they have taken a beating over the last 2 years. The one tire I damaged had 3 bubbles and the screw I mentioned in my previous post. I've never owned a better pair of low-profile tires.

Well they use that technique with dairy cows, they have them swallow magnets, to keep them from getting ill when they feed from items like wire, screws, old nails, etc.

aren't sidewall bumps cause to immediately replace your tires? you used it for 10 months with the bumps?

I can see the conversation now everytime she hits something with her car, like other cars, poles, parking meters - "You're the idiot that put this magnet on the car, what did you think would happen."

I've patched a tire that had a muffler clamp go through it - Hear air come out through the hole? I inflated the tire, rotated it until I found the culprit, grabbed the thing with pliers, and pulled it out. Completely flat in roughly 1 second. Patched it & went on my way. I believe it took all of the plugs from one of those kits. Lasted as long as the tire did (about another year.)

magnets would not be strong enough to catch anythings. not even at 5 mph even. unless they are charged with a REALLLY high voltage, which isnt viable for a car.

usually the back tires are most common to get a puncture. This is due to the front tires kicking up the object into a position that allows it to puncture. Front tire punctures are therefore more rare.
Unless you had a superduperstrong electromagnet up front, the magnet will most likely do nothing.
lol at the cow magnet.
