I'm going to end up buying a new AMD cpu, passing this computer down to my brother, and need to buy a few more parts for a rig.

Going to end up buying an Asus A7N8X, Barton 2500+, SLK900U, 92mmx38mm Vantec Tornado.

Where do you recommend picking up the CPU at? I know certain pages sell specific steppings that are known to overclock. Can someone point me in the right direction? How are Newegg's shipments as of late?

Thanks
Jonathan

EDIT: If I recall correctly, aren't Tbred's unlocked on nForce2 boards?

both bartons and tbreds are unlocked by nforce 2

as far as i know, i cant think of a particular stepping that for a 2500+ that OCs better than the rest. i would just go with newegg and see how well it does

Thanks. I guess I'll try my luck with Newegg.

I think I'm gonna get the NF-7 ver2 instead.

Is this what I'm looking for?

Thanks again

I don't think you need a 430 watt power supply. I'm running a WD800JB, Raptor, 2 optical drives, 4 80mm case fans, CPU fan, onboard soundstorm sound, VGA fan, USB mouse, USB media card reader, a Ti4200 @ > Ti4600 speed, my XP2500@ 2.2 Ghz, and two sticks of PC3200 RAM on a 350 watt Antec power supply.

Well, its only $5 more than the 380W, and $20 more than the 330W.

Using this to replace the crappy 420W that came with my case.

The SLK-900 does not fit on the A7N8X. Get the SLK-800 for the Abit NF7-S, just don't pair an A7N8X w/ a SLK-900. Peace.
