Home Tech... I've never owned a pair of these no-name speakers, but were I to guess, I'd really doubt they're $800.00 - if anything's the type in this, it's their regular price.

I just got back from bestbuy. I almost bought a set... they had a few boxes in stock and a set on display.

Almost bought them until I heard them. They were hooked up to a very nice Pioneer receiver that was switchable between other speakers. I listened to some other's to compare them to these, and lets just say the KLH bookshelf's were clearer and less distorted. These speakers all buzzed, were VERY tin-y and felt like absolute crap. I could push the sides and they're crackle and flex. Made in China. Engineered in China. Not even worthy of being owned by a Chinaman.

Maybe this a planted "deal" from BB to try and get back some of the money they lost yesterday.

I sure can't find any info about these anywhere on web. Not even a comment in epinions.

Unless there are two SilverScreen 40 sets with the same specs, these are made by Sonance (click on Silver
screen 40).

I don't get it.... what are you objecting to?

I'm not objecting to anything, it's just that $800 is RIDICULOUS for a speaker system that has total output of 100 watts (correct me if I'm wrong on this), unless if they have AMAZING sound quality, which this set obviously doesn't have.

OMG ... these are complete trash. In all seriousness, I wouldn't spit on these if they were burning in front of me. Buyer Beware.

Really? My bad then. But still I don't see how these are any better than the other ones listed on BB's site that have the same wattage, better brands, and like half the price.

You must be kidding, right? Check Samus post in this thread.

Seriously, you might be able to get decent pair of speakers for 100$. Maybe some Polks? I think that most of decent (pretty good) bookshelft speakers start in 150$ range. These are 2-way speakers to clarify. Decent 3-way speakers will cost more and I am of opinion that buying seperately subwoofer and 2-way speakers is better option.

This is a list of great speakers:
NHT, Pinnacle, Polk - USA
Paradigm, Energy, PSB - Canada
Mission, Tannoy, KEF, Whardale, B&W - UK

There might be some others brands of which I am not aware or forgot (sorry about that).
Some poeple like Infinity, Bose, although many people find Bose overrated as Monster Cable.

Spend 250$ (even 150$ will give you quite a bit) for pair of nice bookshelf speakers and you will not regret. I have KEF Q15 bookshelf monitors and I still enjoy them (paid 250$ at onecall.com back in early 2000).

My two humble cents.
