My bro is buying a p4 1.3 ghz, and it should be here within the next 2 weeks or so. Now, i'm not sure if he'll let me install SETI on it, but if he does, I'm willing to swap the units with someone, cuz p4's suck at rc5.

I'll keep it posted....
 
The one i use at work is a Gateway 1.3 P4 with pc800 and it has a solid average of 5.5 hours. It is fairly consistent. Win98se, cli loaded as a service.
 
Why are you letting your brother buy a P4 1.3Ghz? I could see getting a higher clocked P4 if he really wants one (although I wouldn't for myself) but a 1.3? Come on, that thing gets smoked by just about every processor out there and my grandparents:Q If I were you I'd advise him to get a higher clocked one or by an Athlon.

BTW, good trade though. SETI is about the only the the P4's good at😛

No, SETI only takes up like 16Mb of RAM. So if you have that much free you won't have problems. However, the speed of the RAM plays a big part in WU times.

cuz he's 12.....

it was a deal my dad found, a p4 1.3 ghz, 256 megs of pc800 ram, 20 gig hdd, 32 meg video card, etc. etc.

for 800 bucks, pluse 50 bucks shipping.

my bro's been saving up for 3 years to buy a comp, now he'll have the best one in the house. I'm happy for him, to go up 100 mhz or so to a 1.4 woulda been 200 bucks more
