That seems excessive for a 3-series...

I know your title references a V8 swap but I'm missing something, no?

LS1 swap. The 3 series I believe is lighter then a Vette, and you could build it to run circles around a comparable year M3. Hell, the thing would strip the paint and blow the doors off an M3.

Pretty cool. Ever think about using a Ford 5.0? I'm a Chevy guy, myself, but I hear the 5.0 is smaller. And I know there are a ton of aftermarket parts for that little beast.

I wonder how much heavier the LS1 is than the engine out of the Bimmer...

Looks good, clean and well loaded. Granted its only 1 pic... Still need to go talk to the Bank and check the Carfax but at least now I have some place to start.
My "mechanic" is checking the feasability of doing the swap, ahve to hear back from him before I decide for sure.

I doubt it. You would be increasing the weight on the front of the vehicle quite a bit which will completely change the handling characteristics of the vehicle. Not to mention the problem of putting the power to the ground. You would have to swap a Corvette rear end if it could even be done. Talk about a money pit and a hassle. You'll NEVER get the money invested back out.

I think its the best idea I've ever seen. My big concern would be traction and tire size. gonna need some serious rubber to hold that thing on the road.
