may have finally found a house

Found an old farmhouse, 4 bedroom, 2 full baths, family room, living room, dining room, etc. Only downfall is it was built in 1850 - stone foundation (not cinderblocks) - basement can't be remodelled into another room.

But, it also includes a HUGE barn, another building that's like an airplane hanger - perfect height and size for a basketball game inside, and a big 4 bay garage type of place. About 70 tillable acres (fields - hay or corn or whatever) 40 wooded acres (lots of nice big trees). Excellent hunting too. (111 acres total)

I'm happy. We decided against another place that had been a dairy farm. (This one could be used as a very small dairy farm... maybe about 40 cows total. The other would hold a couple hundred head of cattle)

Taxes are a little high (about 3000 a year), but we're hoping to get it for about 80K 🙂

Plus, we're going to keep our current house and rent it out - my wife already found a family that wants to rent it.
 
Wow - 80K? That's cheap for a 4 bedroom, at least it would be here. Of course I'm in the middle of TX though. We do have some small cities outside of Dallas - a friend just bought a 4 BR for 120K, includes probably slightly less land than what you paid. (Takes 15+ minutes to walk around the land in their backyard) How's everything look though? Kinda rustic looking or has it been converted into something more modern?
 
Sounds like a cool place to live. I like the idea of you renting your former residence for extra income too.

it's in western NY... I can't remember the exact dimensions of the property, but you wouldn't be able to walk the perimeter in 15 minutes.. A rough calculation of the approximate dimensions means I would a little under 2 miles of fencing to completely fence in the property (ignoring the road - ) A very rough approximation of the shape of the property is a rectangle, about 1800 feet by 2700 feet. (just a guess without the tax map) Nice stream running through the property too, plus a pond

That's the issue that's KILLING me... DSL, maybe. No cable.
