Today I relocated the right speaker (the one with the volume, etc controls), Unplugged it and plugged it back into the sub without disconnecting the power.

Now those controls don't work. The speakers still play, the volume can be controlled by windows still. When I hit any of the buttons on the speaker the LED goes from amber to green indicating the button press was detected but there is no response in windows.

I tired them on my laptop to eliminate the possibility that it was a driver issue...same symptoms.

The USB interface must work since they still play...no bent pins on the din plug for the right channel. Everything still works excpt the mute, bass, volume controls.

Any ideas? I've left them unplugged...hopfully letting the capacitors will fully drain.

I'll check out the functionality of the analogue side tommorow...just gotta find an 1/8 to an 1/8 connector.

So wait, the selling point of these speakers is that they're USB speakers right? And the official solution to to the problem is basically "don't use them as USB speakers." Just amusing in a cynical sort of way I guess.;)

"Yeah, um, I bought this car to drive on the roads, but it stalls once I leave the driveway."

"Oh, that's a known problem. Just don't drive it on the roads and you'll be fine."

Their made by Philips with a Microsoft Interface. Their so old that USB control compatibility was a little iffy. Worked perfectly for me up until now. I guess if I can't fix them I'll just use the buttons on my keyboard to control the volume etc. Maybe it's time for a seperate reciver and some good speakers/sub.

Ok, Now things get weirder. When I hit the Mute Button it now increases the volume! All other buttons have no effect in windows but the speakers seem to register the button presses.
