to show the evolution of processor architecture. take a 486 100mhz, pentium 100mhz, PII 100mhz(engineering sample, of course) celeron, piii, athlon etc. all at 100mhz and see how they perform

Not easy to do, as you cannot make a clean comparison. You have chipset platform to contend with, as well as whether or not to include L2 cache as well.

You'd have to include L2 cache or else the test would be worthless since that's a major part of the chip evolution.
