Few years ago I had to RMA 4-5 Maxtor drives over the course of a year or so. I know some will agree with me on them not being to hot. But I was offered a Maxtor 160gb SATA for $50 with 2 year left on warranty. This is a decent deal but I am wondering does their newer drives seem to be more reliable? This will be going into a HTPC and I would hate for one to just crap out on me.
 
how old are your drives? I had 80gb's fail on me. Well I never had one completely fail for no reason. All of them did the same thing. Woke up one day turn my PC on and they would clunk a few times before booting. I would just RMA as soon as I heard that.
