maxtor ultra ata 100 card won't work in win2k?

Ok I?m back with the same problem. My Maxtor ultra ata 100 card will not work in win2k. I have done a reformat and then it really won?t work, then it won?t even recognize anything working off the card. If I use the old installation of win2k I can use my cdroms on the card but in device manager it says that the card has been disabled. And I can?t get it to let me install a driver for it. It says that the system cannot find the file specified and it gives me this message weather I do a manual install or let windows find it. My win98 has no problems with the card it installed in seconds. Does anyone have and suggestions? Please.
