Maxtor UDMA133=??

If your chipset doesn't support UDMA 133 then it'll be at Mode 5. If it does support then it is obviously wrong.

Mode 6 is UDMA 133.

He ain't wrong....I have a KT333 board and it shows my WD as Mode 5 and my Maxtor as Mode 6....the maxtor is UDMA133. not all boards support UDMA133.....on the AMD + VIA side you need a KT333 or later.

Hmm....not familiar with that board but.....I doubt there will be any difference at all between ATA100 and ATA133.

Don't go and spend any extra money on upgrading just to get ATA133. The speed increase that I remember reading about in tests was only in bursts and hardly noticeable. I have 2 maxtors at UDMA 6/ATA 133 and I have never thought to myself "wow that sure is faster than my ATA100 drive".

Have you tried unistalling the drivers/ rebooting and see if they'll set to the correct setting? Also, did you install that HDD after another one had been there?

Actually, I had both for few months now. I dont have SIS IDE drivers installed.
Last week I had to reinstall WinXP but couple of days ago I was looking at
Device Manager & went HMMM should'nt this be UDMA6.
I figuired if I have a Mobo & HDD ATA133 they both should be UDMA6 😕

In Bios, its UDMA6. InDevice Manger UDMA5. Is it Driver related?? 😱

Barely any difference between 133 and 100.

BTW, is there a Barracuda IV 40gig? I know there is an 80 with the 40gig platter, but I honestly do not need another 80gb. I have an IBM (bought it in early august, already slowing down?) which I plan to just start using for file storage.
