Did an Advanced RMA, sent my drive and they have received it. They have yet to ship my drive. Thought they were supposed to cross-ship. It has been 11 days since I started the RMA. I contacted them today and they said, oh we didn't have any in stock, now we do and we will send it second day. They are MAXTOR, how the hell could they not have them in stock?

Back to WD or IBM for me. :(

WD has been good to me...

Well other than the fact that my f@ckin 80 gig stopped working this morning.....RMA time for me tomorrow morning... Damn POS!:|

I'm doing an advanced rma with Maxtor, I don't think you are supposed cross-ship, just return bad drive after receiving new drive.

Reason I'm posting is the drive they are sending me, they are sending all the way from Maslaysia ! Seems crazy.
Also the email they sent me says then sent it UPSBlue, but enterring the RMA number at maxtor.com says the shipped it via Airborne !

But the funnist thing is it's a Fedex tracking number ! Turns out they shipped by Fedex from Malayasia, it's up in Anchorage Alaska right now, to be delivered to Ohio tomorrow.

They do not cross-ship. If you do an advanced RMA they ship you the replacement FIRST (you can use that box to return the bad drive).

<3 maxtor, it must be you. Please check your jumper settings (are you a master or a slave?) and try again.

Huh, if your suggesting that if a Maxtor is less than 3 years old it's me, your nuts ;)

maxtor has been good to me. sent in RMA twice. well, thrice. First time was from a guy here on AT who eventually sold the drive to me. he sent it in as a 40 gig, came back as 60 gig.

Second time was me. I sent it in, came back. 60 gigs. Smooth transaction.

Third time, sent it in as 60 gigs. Came back 80 gigs. Maxtor has been good to me. :)

I sent it in many times because of poor ventilation. My hard drive was running too hot. Too bad it hasn't broken on me since then..I'm hoping to send it in and get back 120 gig or something :) My warranty is almost up. It better break soon.
