hi. i bought another maxtor 200 diamondmax10 7200rpm IDE hard drive for my system. i found out that the one i already have is model 6l200P0 with a 8mb cache:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144183

the one i bought at staples for 40 after rebate is the 16mb cache version 6l200R0:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144187

now the 8mb cache is on master and the 16mb is on the slave. is there going to be a problem for my raid setup? these are identical drives except for the cache. would putting the 16mb on master make the raid faster?

No, any increase would be very minimal. It's nowhere near worth doubling the risk of losing all your data.

not going to get the speed unless all you do is move around large (GB size) files.

You're probably going to experience instability because one drive may get behind in file transfers and the other finishing could make a cheap RAID controller signal for continuation of files. Potentionally, that could currupt data instantly.
