I am thinking of getting this drive...Maxtor Quiet drive, 7200RPM, ATA133, 40 gig, etc. Model is 6L040L2. Its a good deal at 77$ on newegg, I was originally going to get an IBM 40 gig, but the maxtor has ata133 and apparently is quieter.

Anyone have any experience with this drive?

I asked about this drive as well and it seems to be overall well liked. I am getting it for my new system this week :)

Baronz, I just installed a Maxtor L drive in a friend's machine, and it's a good drive. If it's silence you're after consider the Seagate Barracuda IV drive - IMO quieter than the Maxtor. The Maxtor beats out the Seagate slightly, performance wise. The only Achilles Heel w/ the Seagates is re RAID configurations. Seagate is replacing BIV's that don't RAID well. The rub is these replacement drives suffer, performance-wise, in single drive setups.

I've installed four of the BIV 40GB drives recently, and every one is stone silent.
