Maxtor powermax utility doesn't detect my drives

I have a 845G chipset board and while I see my drives detected in bios, they don't show in the Maxtor powermax util. The utility works in my roommate's no name board though. Any ideas?

I had the exact same problem, RMA my drive fixed it though.
