Maxtor PCI ATA133, Gigabyte 8IHXP and XP = NO BOOT!

First thing I would like to get the system running with these three controllers (onboard ATA100 & ATA133) with the drivers installed for the Maxtor (it came with the 160GB drive). Once I install the drivers and reboot...system gives me the BSOD at boot. I have to restore from a system point.

Anyone know how I can get around this?

Second would be, that I'm currently running my 2 onboard controller as ATA133 with 2 identical Maxtor 80GB drives. One has OS + Files and the other is blank. I want to enable this controller as RAID and build from my existing OS drive a Raid 1 with both drives. Should I be worried about looking my data/os on drive?

If so, I have another 160GB drive. How to I backup (so it will boot, etc.) to this drive just in case?

Thanks all,
-JC
