I've had 2 out of 3 Seagates fail in less than 6 months and will never own another one. Maxtors and WD's have been good performers for me but get loud over time. I've switched to Samsung now and have 3 of them. They are super quiet and have been holding up well so far.

Old maxtors are good ( well at least mine is ) 40 Gb 5200 rpm has lasted me 3 years. The new ones are crap imo, noisey and SLOW, or at least the one in my brothers gateway.

I recently boght a seagate, it is good too.

WD is the best brand imo.
