Maxtor or Seagate 7200 EIDE?

You might have to wait until their latest offering comes out before making the decision.

well there is no rush but when is the "latest offering" due? and what about that which is already available? thanks

Their latest offerings are both on the horizon, but their performance is not yet known. Visit Storagereview.com daily to check if they have the review up. The drives, Seagate Barracuda ATA III and Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 60, are both under evaluation as we speak, but we've been waiting forever for them to post the reviews.

yea i would suggest an ibm. They raid exceptionally well (unlike the maxtors) and they are pretty fast. The seagates have great shock protection though so if thats important to you u might want to consider them.

With my personal past experiance I would go with the Maxtor over the Seagate they just have always been more reliable for me. But over all I agree with John I would much rather have an IBM, they are as far as I'm concerned the best.

<<They raid exceptionally well (unlike the maxtors)>>

Do you have any evidence behind this? Except Abit's HiPoint crap, Maxtors RAID as well as IBM.
