Hello, was thinking about buying an external harddrive and saw this one: Maxtor OneTouch FireWire and USB. I've heard about it before but when I looked at the picture, it doesn't look the same. This is the "new" one.

What do you think of it? How is the sound of it? Would be nice with a seagate brand but haven't seen any of those.
External would be good if I go with a laptop in the future.. One of the reasons, and I don't have to buy a controllercard/change mainboard.

I use a Maxtor USB external to back up 4 XP computers. I just plugged it in and do not use the one touch feature <fwiw>

Ok, one question pops to my head. Can the drive handle 24/7 usage? not full load but it should work as a regular HDD, be accessable all the time.

If you want to just leave it plugged in for storage purposes, it will be fine. The Firewire/USB 2.0 connection should make the data transfers pretty quick.

Gonna us a firewire connection.
I may put up an ftp and use the harddrive with that. Maybe 10 users on 10mbit, can it handle the demand on data?

and does anyone know how many dba it's on?
