Maxtor is better than beer.

There, I said it. Blashpemy.

I had a 120gb drive that was making death noises about 8 months ago, I filed an rma, threw it in my trunk and totally forgot about it. I finally remembered it was in there an mailed it out last week, and voila- not only did they not deny me, they sent me a new 160gb drive instead!

<3 Maxtor.

Western Digital does this too. I've RMAd a few drives from them (my old POS computer had a bad habit of fuxoring my hard drives) and they always ended up sending me a bigger HD. 😀

The price difference is between $37-$44. I'd say Maxtor is better because you can buy plenty of beer with the money you saved. 🙂

I hate beer, so yeah I'd say Maxtor is 'better than beer.' 😀

BTW. WD makes the best HD's. The quietest as well. But I think the real key here is, to buy a 3 year warranty. Now I won't touch a 1 year warranty drive.

I just rma-ed a 40gig Maxotr Harddrive which had about a month's warranty left on it (3years) back in july and I only got a 40 gig back. =( This sucks.

Well back in July I RMA'd my 60Gig Drive that was the loudest thing in my new rig. So I got back a 2MB Cache (Blah) 80Gig Refurbished HD Nice! BOTOH, I thought that this drive would be just as quite as my WD 120G 8MB SE drive, and it most definitely is NOT. I need to ask the control tower for clearance every time I want to access my E: drive.......
