Maxtor IDE Harddrive high pitch sound?

My IDE harddrive has been giving off fairly high pitch whining sound lately. The data integrity's all good, just the sound is bothersome. Is this normal?

It could be the bearings or something related to the spindle that attaches to the platter.
I had a drive that made the same sound, it worked fine, but the sound was annoying.

If its still under warranty get it replaced.
