Maxtor HDD about to explode? HELP!

Just recently my 17gig Maxtor ATA66 hdd has started to make a clicking noise . It sounds like the reader arm inside hdd. my mouse is constantly jerky pausing every few seconds for a fraction of a second then going again. My games pause immensely and sometimes just hard lock and when it does lock for a long time I hear the clicking noise. Thoughts , Ideas, time for emergency backup?

Better get a 20GB or bigger then clone that 17GB over then if it is (the 17GB that is) still under Maxtor warranty send it in.
