Maxtor HD + RAID 0 - what is the problem?

Ok, I've just parted with my hard earned cash on 2x Maxtor ATA 100 20gb DiamondMax Plus drives which I am using on my A7V133 board. I've only 'just' set it up, but now I've read that these particular drives have a performance problem under RAID 0. Why. How. What is the fix? I mean come on, I'm not happy about this.

I don't know where you read about the performance problem in RAID 0 but I don't have it. Maybe you'd be better off trying it yourself and letting us know where and what this problem is.
